You can change the Fuzzy search setting in Management / Company info / Usage settings. When the setting is in use, text searches are extended from the end only.
The default is that the Fuzzy search setting is not in use, i.e. searches are extended from the beginning and from the end. For example, a business partner search by the name “a” gives all names that include the letter “a”, when the default setting is in use. If you tick the option "Only fill register search fields from the end?", only business partner names that start with the letter “a” are included in the search result. If you still want to search all business partners that have the letter “a” in their names, you must enter the search condition in format “*a”, where * represents any character string, including null.
Independent of the Fuzzy search setting, you can freely insert * and ? characters in all text searches. The character * represents any character string. For example, search Pro*Countor also yields the search result Procountor. The character ? represents any single character, i.e. a character must always exist in that place. Therefore, search Pro?Countor does not yield search result Procountor. If you use character * only in the search condition, the search yields results in which any information has been entered in the field. Blank is also information, even if it is not visible.
