In the Business partner register, it is possible to use two-levelled business partner groups, i.e. the main group principle.
The main group is a high-level business partner group, to which you can join ordinary business partner groups only, not business partners directly. Each business partner can only belong to one business partner group within the same main group, but the business partner can also belong to other business partner groups, if each of them belongs to a different main group. The purpose of this feature is to make large business partner registers easier to manage.
If in the Company info subsection’s Usage settings view Two-levelled business partner groups are set in use, it brings several extensions to the business partner register.
The new Main groups view is available in the business partner register for managing the main groups.
From the Main groups view you can go to the Separate/join groups and main groups view, where you can select which business partner groups belong to which main group. Management of the main groups functions almost identically to that of the business partner groups - instead of groups we have main groups and instead of business partners we have groups.
The main group can be used as search condition in most register searches, e.g. in viewing the business partner register, or in creating a new invoice or group letter. If main groups are in use, the business partner report shows, which main groups the business partner belongs to, when you include the register information Business partner group in the report.
