This page contains general instructions on using Procountor.
Window size and closing the browser window
We recommend using Procountor in full-screen format in order to maximize the amount of information shown.
The display resolution must be at least 1024 x 768 pixels. If you use Procountor in a browser window that is too narrow, you may lose buttons and text. In a narrow browser window, icons are automatically removed if needed.
If you try to close a browser window or tab running a Procountor session, the program will ask you to confirm. Closing the window ends the session.
Components of the user interface
Hide the sidebar on the left-hand side by clicking on the arrow icon and display it by clicking on the question mark or navigation icon.
The question mark opens the view-specific instructions on the sidebar, and from there, you can navigate to the manual or the contact form. The manual button opens the Procountor manual in a separate window, and the contact button takes you to the contact form. Use the form to contact customer service, sales, interfaces or invoicing. You can also use the form to register for training, share development ideas or report errors.
The navigation button opens the function-specific navigation bar.
You can also switch between the navigation and manual views by clicking on the items at the bottom of the sidebar.
Click on the Procountor icon to go to homepage.
Click on the Open in a new window button to open multiple Procountor windows at the same time.
In invoices, salaries, registers, etc., the bottom left bar shows log information on who has edited the data and when.
The bottom right corner shows notifications. The messages are displayed for about 10 seconds, after which the message window closes automatically. You can also close it by clicking on the notification.
End your Procountor session by clicking the Logout link in the main menu. The program will ask you to confirm before ending.
If a Procountor session is not used for an hour, it is closed automatically. The user is warned that the session is about to expire. Database transactions are considered using. Therefore, it is advisable to save data every now and then to prevent the session from expiring.
The system will notify you if your session expires. When the session has expired you have to log out, close and restart the browser and log in to Procountor. You can also set user-specific expiry times. If you wish to have a longer expiry time for your sessions, please contact the Procountor customer service (email@example.com).
If the customer’s IP address changes during the session, the system issues a notification of session expiry. For security reasons, changing the IP address during the session is not allowed. Therefore, you must ensure that the firewall or proxy server does not change the customer’s IP address shown to the Procountor server during the session.
Selection windows and error messages
You can move the question and selection windows by clicking on their headers and dragging.
You can reply to questions and selections either by clicking on the appropriate alternative or pressing Enter, selecting the correct alternative with the arrow keys and pressing Enter again.
You can set off an error message by pressing any button or by clicking on the message window.
When a Yes - No - Cancel window is shown, the first button from the left is active by default. Select this by pressing Enter. Move to other buttons with arrow keys and press Enter. Pressing Esc always means Cancel, if cancelling is one of the options.
Saving and closing views
Views where you can edit information have the Save button in the top left corner. The button is activated when you edit the information in the view. You can close views with the Close button in the top right corner.
Navigate the tables with the Tab and Enter keys. These keys take you to the next field in the table, and the Shift key takes you to the previous field.
Add a row by pressing Ctrl+Enter and delete a row with Alt+Enter in the invoice rows of the Invoice views and the accounting rows of the accounting page.
You can sort tables according to a specific column by clicking on the column header.
You can change the width of the column by clicking on the edge of the column in the header.
Right-click on the table to find useful actions in different situations.
You can copy text from a table to the clipboard even if you cannot edit the table. Copying is activated by clicking on the cell in question. The cursor indicating the beginning of a selection appears in the cell, and you can select the text in the cell by using the mouse or keyboard.
The right side of the column header contains a menu button which shows different functions.
You can change the size of the components in views divided into several sections (e.g. Receipt search, invoice information) by clicking on the divider between the components (the cursor becomes a bi-directional arrow in the right location) and dragging the divider to the desired direction.
Fields and selections
Start typing in a drop-down menu, and the list moves to the location that matches the entered text.
In browser menus, you can select several alternatives either by clicking on the rows directly or by using the shift keys to select the desired interval.
There are two types of search windows. In both of them, you can make the search by typing the search information or part of it in the field at the top of the window.
If you can select one information field only, a window opens where you select the information.
If you can select several information fields, a window with two sections opens. In the Alternatives section, select the desired information fields and transfer them to the Selected section using the Add to selected button.
Fields with mandatory information missing or too much data are highlighted in red.
You can insert dates either by typing the date in the date fields or by selecting it from the calendar icon next to the field.
You can enter a date in the following formats:
The program converts the date into the format dd.mm.yyyy
If the date field is empty, the calendar’s suggested default is the current date based on time set on the workstation computer. The current date is indicated by a green circle.
If the date field contains a date, the calendar suggests it as the default.
The arrows in the top corners of the icon can be used to change the year.
For example, if you press the left or right key in the keyboard when the chart of accounts is activated in Management > Accounting info > Chart of accounts, the selected section is expanded, if it was in reduced state. On the other hand, the section is reduced when you press either the left or right key in the keyboard, if it was in expanded state.
Settings for reports and print-out formats
Windows Regional settings have an effect on printing from Procountor to Excel. Depending on the settings, Excel will use either a full stop or a comma as a separator. If the decimal separator in the file produced by Procountor is different from that of Windows, Excel interprets the content of the cell as a character string. The most convenient way to correct this is to use Excel’s Replace function. Another alternative is to change Windows settings, but this may affect other applications.
Although Procountor refers to Excel printouts, you can print to OpenOffice as well.
If report printing in Excel or PDF format is not successful but HTML format works, please check the following items in Internet Explorer’s Internet settings:
- 1. The following item must not ticked: Tools - Internet Options - Advanced- Security - Do not save encrypted pages to disk.
- (In Finnish: Työkalut - Internet-asetukset - Lisäasetukset - Suojaus - Älä talleta salattuja sivuja levylle)
- 2. The setting in Tools - Internet Options - Security - Internet - Custom level - Downloads - Automatic prompt for file downloads must be Enable.
- (In Finnish: The setting in Työkalut - Internet-asetukset - Suojaus - Internet - Mukautettu taso - Lataaminen - Salli automaattinen tiedostojen lataamisen kysely must be Ota käyttöön)
If Procountor is listed as a Trusted site (or on the Local intranet list), select the list in question instead of the Internet when adjusting the setting.
If running reports or using the Preview button does not produce an output in a new browser window, the reason may be a pop-up window blocking software in the computer (for example, Google Toolbar and Yahoo! Tooolbar contain a pop-up window blocking feature) or browser settings that prevent you from opening new pop-up windows. In this case, please make sure that your browser allows pop-ups from Procountor.

Creating a screenshot
Procountor’s customer service may ask for additional information to solve a problem, e.g. a screenshot or a PrintScreen picture. The instructions for Creating a screenshot in Windows explain how to do this in Windows.
